Par exemple, les deux derniers chiffres arabes de la s\u00e9rie 1050 sont 50. Selon les principes internationaux de d\u00e9signation des marques, la teneur en aluminium doit \u00eatre sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 99,5% pour que le produit soit qualifi\u00e9. L'aluminium de la s\u00e9rie 1000 poss\u00e8de de bonnes propri\u00e9t\u00e9s de formage et de traitement de surface, ainsi que la meilleure r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 la corrosion parmi les alliages d'aluminium. Sa r\u00e9sistance est faible, et plus la puret\u00e9 est \u00e9lev\u00e9e, plus sa r\u00e9sistance est faible. Les barres d'aluminium de la s\u00e9rie 4000 sont repr\u00e9sent\u00e9es par 4A01 et les plaques d'aluminium de la s\u00e9rie 4000 appartiennent \u00e0 la s\u00e9rie ayant une teneur en silicium plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e. Il pr\u00e9sente un bon \u00e9coulement des liquides et un faible retrait de solidification. Il s'agit d'un mat\u00e9riau de construction, de pi\u00e8ces m\u00e9caniques, de mat\u00e9riaux de forgeage et de mat\u00e9riaux de soudage.
